A Parable:

A parable can be described as story designed to open the windows in our mind, allowing an expansion of an idea beyond the seeming narrowness of the truth. Mary Poppins, describes the process of a parable this way, “A spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down.” Our Lord, masterfully uses the “Parable” as the sweetener; an appeal. When we get to the narrow truth [the medicine] at the end of the parable, the Lord wants us open and ready to receive the simple truth he has for us. The simple truth that comes to us at the end, is the jewel he has so graciously shaped for us.
